Van Gogh, a little more than two weeks before he lost his life with a revolver, painted the picture “Crows in a Wheat Field”. The canvas was completed in July 1890. This work of painting was the last painted picture of the artist, although many researchers do not agree with this. Vincent so tragically passed away through unsolved problems with his family and finances. It was in this picture that the artist expressed his confusion of the soul and his anxious state. Even the support of his brother could not help Van Gogh save his life. For all the years of study and work, he, unfortunately, could not sell his work.
In the painting “Crows in a Wheat Field”, the author focuses the attention of the viewer on three paths that diverge in different directions. Excited gloomy sky merges into one with the earth and creates chaos that is not clear to the viewer. The author transferred his feeling of rest and unlimited loneliness to this composition. In the landscape, it seems that there is no promising center. The sharp contrast of the bright yellow field and the dark sky, with ominous black crows, testifies to the artist's feeling of longing and indecision.
Of particular importance should be given a line to the horizon, which clearly divides the entire space into parts, because it is not just part of the composition, because it skillfully shows the emotions of the artist. The viewer is very difficult to understand where the end of the horizon and where the trails lead. There is no standard rhythm of the author, no different twists, only very hard and hard strokes of the artist. When you try to take a closer look at the canvas, you can feel and understand the author, his loneliness and sadness.
Vincent said: “By creating such paintings, I try to express my sadness and incredible loneliness.” Van Gogh after a tragic end to the artist’s path left a small legacy, which is presented in many genres and reflects different aspects of a person’s soul, harmony with nature and his life.
