The picture "Overgrown Pond" was created by the famous landscape painter Isaac Levitan. The canvas was painted in 1887. Once the artist was lucky to see Polenov’s canvas “Overgrown Pond” and Levitan was so inspired by the picture that he decided to create his own interpretation on this topic.

In the picture, the artist masterfully portrayed nature. Miraculously, the shades of green colors intertwined on the canvas. A mirror of water accurately conveys the image around. On the shore of the reservoir sedges and willows grow, bending their branches. Around reigns an atmosphere of a certain charm and witching calm. In the foreground is a pond overgrown with duckweed. In places, a perfectly smooth surface of the water is visible. It seems as if a faint smell of fresh greenery and the coolness of a reservoir are now felt.

Apparently the day is already running out, evening is approaching. The sky is painted in light colors. Peaceful peace enveloped a quiet backwater. The artist put a soul into each brush stroke, creating a generally harmonious creation. His manner of depicting vividly reflected all the wealth of Russian nature. Literally every detail on the canvas is executed exactly, all elements, each leaf and each blade of grass are meticulously drawn.

The painting “Overgrown Pond” clearly conveys the sensations and mood of the author. Looking at the picture, one involuntarily feels peace and tranquility. The meaning of the image is extremely easy to grasp. The artist embodied his attitude to nature into a work of art.

Levitan has a very special manner of painting. The artist became famous thanks to his realistic ability to display a landscape on canvas. His work is characterized by the accuracy of the study of all composite elements. Levitan subtly sensed and professionally conveyed to the image all the most intimate in nature.
