The canvas was written by Arkady Plastov in 1951. The picture has dimensions 200x167 cm. The work is done in oil on canvas.

The artist endowed the canvas with an easy-to-understand meaning, an unpretentious plot and simplicity of images. Plast depicted evening time. Dusk thickens above the ground. The newly plowed field is gradually darkening. The sun is already setting over the horizon. Around everything is painted in warm golden hues. It blows a little evening cool.

Right on the green grass next to the tractor are a tractor driver and a guy, probably his assistant, waiting for dinner. A sweet little girl in a white robe and scarf brought them food. Dinner is the most ordinary. Just bread and milk. For what a welcome.

The tractor drivers had a moment to rest after hard work in the field. They enjoy peace. Apparently they will have hard work at night. Each of them has its own business. However, everyone is absorbed in their thoughts. The oldest, thinking about something, cuts a loaf of bread. It seems that a crunch of fried crust is about to be heard. Perhaps his thoughts are far from work, maybe he is thinking about the house. The boy lay down on the ground and watches the girl pouring milk from a can, while already holding a spoon ready.

This is all that the author wanted to convey. There are no acute worries and everyday problems. Everything is extremely simple and clear.

The people depicted are hardly relatives, but they are united by a certain spiritual closeness. The artist placed the figures in the foreground, focusing on them with the help of bright colors. The tractor driver has a red T-shirt, the girl is dressed in all dazzling white, the guy is dressed in bright clothes.

Heroes settled on the ground among the field grass and flowers, hinting at unity with nature. Behind them is a wide field turning into the horizon. Clouds overtake the sky. All this creates an enchanting, witching atmosphere of the impending evening.
