Description of the painting by Kazimir Malevich “Red Square and Black Square”

Malevich's “Black Square” is a sensational picture, which is still being judged and interpreted. Someone does not understand at all what this is, why it is generally art, someone with foam at the mouth defends their beliefs. They say that the black square is the end of everything, what the development of art will lead to, and that Malevich simply portrayed the end, bypassing the intermediate stages.

They say that the black square is feeling, fear and longing, and the white wall around it is a void, which symbolizes the loneliness of anyone who feels, and that one feeling cannot be truly separated. But where two squares are combined at once - black and red, we are talking about something else. Not the end of time, but something much closer.

The revolution.

The black square is the desire for change, for life to become different, for the fear and longing that exist now, to be replaced by something else. It symbolizes the feeling and desire to change it. It symbolizes the way of life and the desire to break it.

The red square is blood and longing. What led to the desire to change what acted so, many dead, wounded, ground with cruel wheels of fate. It symbolizes despair and pain, fear and horror of the deed. If the black square is the fear of what is now, then the red square is the fear of what was done and for what it was done. The fact that it is slightly crooked relative to the black square, rotated horizontally, even better shows that the changes have occurred, albeit at a terrible cost.

The whiteness around is loneliness and emptiness, accompanying any fear, shading any feeling, turning everyone into a separate island from the others.

Although, of course, we can simply assume that the black square was a success for people suffering from a search for deep meaning, and the “Red Square and Black Square” were written simply in the wake of this success.
