Vrubel is a Russian artist who wrote in almost all techniques and genres, searched for his tirelessly and with fiery energy, giving preference to a mythical and literary plot. The triptych “Faust” was ordered to him by a wealthy merchant who wanted to have his own picture. With enthusiasm, the master set to work, and created a real masterpiece.

Margarita is at the center of the work. In a white dress, with a long blond braid, with clean bright eyes, she looks at the viewer with humble longing, like a doe, who knows for sure that the hunter is already following the trail. Her hands are folded on her stomach. Hair even in a braid curly curly. There is a certain disproportion in the whole figure, stretching upward, because of which Margarita’s neck and arms are too long, and because of this, it seems that she seems to grow out of flowers and will be torn off like a flower and left to wither.

Left - Mephistopheles with a young student. They are in the real laboratory of a medieval alchemist. A scarecrow of a crocodile hangs from the ceiling, a skull lies on the pages of an ancient artsy book. Mephistopheles stands in a strange, broken pose - it is difficult to understand what, with the perspective of his figure, whether she can really turn out like that. One leg of him on a stool, on his knee lies a huge heavy book that would be difficult to hold in his hands. A young student looks into it - his face is surprised, fear and disgusted with secret knowledge.

To the right is Faust. Under its ceiling there is also a stuffed crocodile, but there is no skull, no ancient books, only scrolls of paper and a pulpit with a lone volume lying on it. Faust stands peering out the window, his face relaxed and soft, as if he sees something good. He himself looks like a wise pundit. Gray in a beard, blue mantle. It is hard to believe that this person is so bored to bargain with the demon.

But a little more and - "I'm bored, demon." The story will begin.
