Roerich is a Russian artist, archaeologist, traveler, author of thirty literary works, whose contribution to art is represented by a huge number of paintings - there are about 7,000 of them.

Forever susceptible to any kind of injustice, he painted paintings that were designed to awaken a soul dormant in people, to let light into their hearts and remind them of the impossibility of any compromise with evil.

Crime is mildness, the desire for reconciliation, because light and darkness are never reconciled, and the worst acts that make the world shudder are always committed with the omission of the faint-hearted and silent. “The Shabmala News”, also known as “Arrow-letter”, shows the mountain peaks of the Himalayas, flooded with yellow dawn light.

Immovable silent mountains are covered with snow, silence reigns in them, broken by a barely audible, elusive sound - this is trembled by a tightly stretched bowstring. The shooter, clinging to the side of the mountain, pulls his bow. The singing tree creaks, bends in his hand. A piece of scarlet fabric trembles on the arrow - the banner of war. In Mongolia, they have long since sent news from high mountain pastures - where an individual cannot catch it, an arrow will fly, aptly fired from a bow. It will stick into the ground at someone’s feet, bring bad news.

Shambhala is a mythical country. It exists only in the imagination of people, and represents a kind of paradise - a place where the gods live. The gods are gracious and can do anything, but sometimes there are times when they can not cope alone. When darkness comes, when the time for decisive battles comes, the gods call people who can support them. And an arrow flies from the mountain peaks to the valleys, and the bow in the hand sings an arrow in a red hat.

The world is on the verge of great change. The world is ready to collapse into the abyss. This theme of the apocalypse, the feeling that if everything goes as it should, it will come very soon, is characteristic of Roerich.

When the world is ground with nuclear bombs, then where will the arrow fall and will it be sent to whom?
